Moss Park Photo Exhibit, organized by Neighbourhood Information Post, is happening now at the Parliament Street Public Library starting July 18th, 2023, for two weeks.
After the Ontario Government declared a state of emergency on March 17th, NIP has moved all existing and newly developed Chinese Senior Group activities onto the video communications platform Zoom. Chinese seniors are trained in the web conferencing application and are able to engage and communicate with one another in the safety of their own homes. Although they are confined in their homes, they are able to participate in various social and recreational activities daily.
Starting on July 2nd, every Thursday, Moss Park residents are invited to partake in a social walking group to exercise with family, friends and neighbors on hour-long walks, while adhering to social distancing rules.
Every Thursday in early 2020, Moss Park residents got together and contributed to the development of new healthy recipes with the goal to create a recipe book at the end of the program. Many recipes were passed down from generations with heartwarming stories behind each one. Parents were able to learn new ways to incorporate healthy cooking into their family’s meals.
In the fall of 2019 and early 2020, 22 participants attended the Leading to Healthy Eating Program—funded by Public Health— where they learned about food safety, healthy eating and cooking, understanding food labels and how to apply the new Canadian Food Guide to daily cooking.
