Service description:
    Newcomer Settlement Services -- individual settlement counselling
  • information sessions on settlement issues
  • help finding affordable housing
  • women's action program for new immigrants
  • settlement services in French-language schools with the Programme d'intégration dans les écoles francophones (PIDEF) -- outreach program based in elementary and secondary schools from mid-August to end of June, and in libraries and social service agencies from July to mid-August
  • Host Program for matching foreign trained professionals with peers
  • Employment Assistance Services -- employment counselling, career orientation
  • Job Search Workshops (JSW) -- for new immigrants and Convention refugees, legally entitled to work in Canada
  • 3 or 4 day job search techniques workshops, covering labour market information, access to trades and professions, resume preparation, networking
  • extensive individual assistance
  • Employment Assessment Centre -- assessment and counselling for Employment Insurance (EI) recipients or EI Reachback clients
  • barriers to employment explored and action plan developed and implemented
  • referral to appropriate employment service or vocational training program Atelier Éclair -- vocational counselling
  • personality tests offered by a professional counsellor
  • Wednesday 9-12, drop in to register
